Community Quiz

A social and entertaining way to build digital engagement

The Rekindle digital Team Have developed a modern-day version of this and we will be rolling it out very soon. Click here for the next Community Quiz. The original version moved from pubs to community centres, museums and libraries and we’re looking for venues that would like to host events. (Usually lasting 60 to 90 minutes).

In 2001 Teesside University launched what was probably the world's first online pub quiz. The competitors were Timms Coffee House (a pub) in Skinningrove and The Black Bull in Trimdon. It was quite a simple concept: Three rounds of ten questions. The question (and the resulting scores) were projected onto a large screen. One person enters the answers but the entire pub is involved in discussing (and debating) the answers and sharing in the joy of the win or the disappointment of defeat. Watch the video to witness the "joy of success in Skinningrove.
