I recently went to a fascinating display in the Mima art gallery .It was a scale model of Old Middlesbrough in the 1950's which was designed by Steve Waller . He started the project after a back injury confined him to the house and took 10 years to build .It is made of balsa wood and covers the are of a small room .It recreates the historic centre of the town , once the civic centre using blue prints from the 1830s. Evert detail including the cobbled streets have been meticulously crafted over a decade. He spent up to 12 hours a day crafting this model town and describes it as a snap shot in time. The detail is amazing and shows
normal day's activities.
